Support for the production and planting of 1,000 trees of native species.
THE PARTICIPATORY COUNCIL OF SAMANÁ WOMEN is a group led by 28 women coffee growers from the municipality of Samaná in the department of Caldas.
Since 2019, this group of women has carried out essential work to contribute to the empowerment of women coffee growers as well as to the improvement of the environment in their area and their coffee lots, protecting and conserving the micro-watersheds that supply and supply the aqueducts of the municipality of Samaná.
This initiative contributes to the protection and conservation of natural resources as well as to the improvement of the income of the women coffee growers that participate in the process.
For them, working by producing and planting trees of native species plays a vital role in the ecosystems, leading to the conservation and protection of the micro-watersheds, with the objective of giving greater added value to their natural environment and thus providing protection to biodiversity, as well as favoring the connectivity of natural forest relicts, the enrichment of forests, the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, the conservation of water sources and the permanence of their traditional ways of life in order to support and contribute to the sustainable and productive life of their coffee plantations, as well as their natural and cultural heritage.
With your help, the group of women will be able to carry out the structuring, production and planting of 1,000 trees of native species strategically distributed in the zone of interest, which will not only contribute to the recovery and protection of the environment, but also to their quality of life and to continue growing their empowerment as women coffee growers.
