It’s the first international donation in the current health situation
- The resources will be devoted to food security, personal protection equipment, connectivity, and continued support for young coffee growers and their families in the Santander department.
- “The FNC can only be grateful for this generous donation, at a moment in which coffee-growing families require not only support from their institutions, but also from committed allies such as Efico and Collibri,” the FNC CEO, Roberto Vélez, said.
Bogotá, May 12, 2020 (FNC Press Office) – The Belgian foundations Efico and Collibri donated COP 100 million to the Colombian Coffee Growers Federation (FNC) to support coffee-growing families in the Santander department regarding food security, personal protection equipment, connectivity and continued support in the face of the covid-19 health situation.
This donation is the first received by the FNC from international allies in the current situation and will benefit about 150 coffee-growing families in the various Santander municipalities where both foundations have been working with the FNC on educational, entrepreneurship, sustainability and production infrastructure projects.
As a Colombian coffee buyer and via its foundation, Efico, together with its partner Collibri, has been present in the Santander department for more than 15 years.
Because of the efficiency and transparency in execution of cooperation projects that benefit coffee communities, the FNC has become a strategic partner of national and international players.
And this donation arrives also as a result of the FNC’s good management of the cooperation projects with Efico and Collibri, in a relationship of fluid and natural trust.
“The FNC can only be grateful for this generous donation, at a moment in which coffee-growing families require not only support from their institutions, but also from committed allies such as Efico and Collibri,” the FNC CEO, Roberto Vélez, said.
A close and fruitful relationship
In addition to being a loyal buyer of Colombian coffee, Efico, in synergy with Collibri, is an important international partner of the FNC, with resources that have allowed financing and executing projects for the benefit of young coffee growers in Santander in education, information technology, generational change, food security, improved schools, school restaurants, sustainable development, and coffee entrepreneurship.
With a high commitment to generational change, many of these projects with the Belgian allies have targeted children and young people from coffee-growing families with a high educational and training component, as detailed below:
