Coffee production and exports continue rising

  • In line with production, coffee exports grew 18% to 1.3 million bags from 1.1 million 60-kg bags in February 2020.

Bogotá, March 4, 2021 (FNC Press Office) – In February, registered coffee production in Colombia, the world’s largest producer of mild washed Arabica coffee, was 1.1 million 60-kg bags, up 11% from the 1 million bags produced in the same month of 2020.

So far this year (January-February), coffee production was almost 2.2 million bags, up 7% from the almost 2.1 million bags produced in the same period a year earlier.

In the last 12 months (March 2020-February 2021), coffee production exceeded 14 million bags, down 3% from the 14.4 million bags produced in the same previous period.

And so far this coffee year (October 2020-February 2021), production was 6.5 million bags, down 1% from the 6.6 million produced a year earlier.

Since 1993, there had not been a February with such export figures

In line with production, Colombian coffee exports in February rose to 1.3 million 60-kg bags, up 18% from the 1.1 million bags exported in February 2020.

In February 1993, Colombia exported almost 1.38 million bags, that is, such high exports for this month had not been registered in 28 years.

Between January and February, coffee exports exceeded 2.3 million bags, 10% more than the 2.1 million bags sold abroad in the same period of previous year.

In the coffee year, exports almost reached 6 million bags, up 1% from the 5.9 million bags exported in the same period of the previous year.

And in the last 12 months (Mar 2020-Feb 2021), exports fell 5% to 12.7 million bags from 13.4 million 60-kg bags a year earlier.
