Bogotá, February 6, 2023 (FNC Press Office) – In January, registered coffee production in Colombia, the world’s largest producer of mild washed Arabica, was 868,000 bags, a figure that coincides with that of the same month of 2022.
Although the weather conditions due to the prolonged La Niña event have begun to improve, they have impacted production throughout the long flowering and fruit formation period.
In the last 12 months (February 2022-January 2023), production was close to 11.1 million bags, down 10% from the almost 12.4 million bags harvested a year ago.
And in the coffee year (October 2022-January 2023), production stood at 3.8 million bags, 14% less compared to the almost 4.4 million produced in the same previous period.

Exports fall 10% in the last 12 months

In the last 12 months, coffee exports fell 10% to 11.2 million 60-kg bags of green coffee from the almost 12.4 million exported a year earlier.

In January, coffee shipments abroad decreased 19% to 835,000 60-kg bags from over 1 million bags exported in the same month of 2022.

And in the coffee year, exports reached 3.7 million bags, down 15% from the 4.3 million bags sold abroad in the same previous period.
