Bogotá, March 7, 2019 (FNC Press Office) – After a strict evaluation by a national jury under the highest quality standards, 47 of the 684 lots registered were selected as finalists of the 4th “Colombia, Land of Diversity” competition.
These finalist lots, from coffee growers of 10 departments, will now be assessed by an international jury from April 3 to 5 in Santa Marta, Magdalena, and the winners will be announced.
In the Small Lots category, the five best coffees based on acidity, body, softness, balance and exoticness will be recognized. And in the Large Lots category, there will be one recognition.
With this competition, the FNC encourages production of specialty coffees and projects them nationally and internationally as part of its strategy to improve profitability of producers, with fairer prices for Colombian coffee. The competition’s best coffees, including the winners, will be live auctioned for the first time abroad on Saturday April 13, within the framework of the US Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) expo, the world’s largest of its kind, to be held in Boston, Massachusetts, from April11-14.
