Bogotá, November 5, 2021 (FNC Press Office) – Café de Colombia, Juan Valdez and the Coffee Cultural Landscape (PCCC) have made themselves felt strongly at the universal exhibition Expo Dubai 2020, dedicated today to Colombia on a special day.

The spotlights of this important fair, which is expected to bring together more than 25 million people over 180 days, pointed today to coffee as the country’s flagship product, as well as its musical wealth, dance, flowers, gastronomy and exuberant vegetation, among other attractions.

“Colombian coffee growers and coffee grace this important fair. Visitors from all continents will be able to taste the best coffee in the world. It’s a great opportunity to open up markets and delight more consumers,” said Roberto Vélez, CEO of the Colombian Coffee Growers Federation (FNC).

The expo features 192 pavilions from the same number of countries, where each shows the best it has to offer; a special day is dedicated to each country. In the case of Colombia, coffee could not be absent, one of its best credentials to the world.

The Colombian pavilion, which occupies 2,000 m2 in a 4 km2 citadel, is presented by regions; and the western Andes include the PCCC and Antioquia, with its mountains, coffee, and flowers.

The Juan Valdez coffee shop chain is also present, seeking to strengthen its international expansion plan and promote business opportunities with potential partners, both franchisees and retail chains, to reach new consumers.

In February 2022, for a week, there will be a cupping space, where producers and exporters of 100% Colombian coffee will be able to show their products and close deals.

 A little history

The tradition of the universal exhibition as a major event dates back to the second half of the 19th century.

Most of its structures are temporary, but some have been preserved, either in their original places or relocated, such as the Eiffel Tower in Paris, built for the 1889 expo and which has become a symbol of the city and the country.

Some of the most recent world exhibitions where Café de Colombia has participated are Shanghai 2010 and Milan 2015.
