Bogotá, September 14, 2022 (FNC Press Office) – The award ceremony and auction of the best coffees of the 7th Colombia, Land of Diversity National Quality Contest are just around the corner: they will take place on October 1 within the framework of the 2nd International Fair of Coffee, Cocoa and Agritourism, in Neiva, Huila.
The 41 finalist coffees will be auctioned before national and international bidders, after awarding COP 25 million to each of the five best lots for the attributes of acidity, body, softness and balance, as well as the most exotic coffee.
Of the 699 lots received from 14 departments (produced in the harvest of the first half of 2022), 213 moved on to the second round and their producers will receive quality premiums of up to COP 400,000 per load (125-kg). Finally, the best 41 coffees, including the 5 winners, will be auctioned.
Organized by the Colombian Coffee Growers Federation (FNC), the contest seeks to identify the best coffees in Colombia and position them in differentiated, high-value market niches. Over time, the contest has established itself as a great showcase of sensory diversity.
The contest is also a tribute to the dedication and perseverance of coffee growers in the production of high-quality coffees in the country.
